[2000] Melancholy Pessimism - Evil Planet

Once again, the czech fail to disappoint me. With bands in the vein of !T.O.O.H.! and Lykathea Aflame in that scene, it's evident they're experts in what concerns to technical death metal with a strong experimental side. Melancholy Pessimism follows that lineage, but also mixes disparate music genres like jazz and even hip-hop in their fast, technical grind, while retaining the humor that characterizes czech death metal bands. One of their best albums, and also the most experimental of their career.

[2007] Gospel of The Future - Gospel of The Future

First full-length of this czech sludge/hardcore band that put out an album last year. Started out as a purely hardcore band, this is their middle ground between that period (which can be heard in full form in their first release, Forever Dead EP) and the sludge/doom period (The Eclipse), three years later. Crushing riffs combined with fast-paced bursts of violence is what you'll hear here, an evidence of this is their single The Power of The Black Sun, of which a video was made. Be sure to check them out.

[2010] Gospel of The Future - The Eclipse

Czech sludge done right. This is the latest release of a band which started as a mostly hardcore-influenced project, then turned their music into a slower, heavily-pounding behemoth in this album. The Eclipse is an underappreciated gem within the sludge offerings of this year, and while it doesn't surpass their self-titled release in quality, it shows once again that Czech Republic is capable of delivering heaviness while no one's looking.
